Environment authority bans export of electronic waste from march 1

Muscat: The Environment Authority has announced a ban on the export of electronic waste and the suspension of issuing export licences, effective from March 1, 2026, until further notice.

The decision comes as part of the authority’s efforts to support waste recycling facilities and enhance environmental sustainability in the Sultanate. The measure is also aimed at developing the waste management sector and improving its overall efficiency.

According to the authority, the move falls within a package of regulatory actions designed to strengthen waste management practices and promote sustainable handling of electronic waste within the country.

The Environment Authority called on all concerned parties to comply with the new regulations, expressing appreciation for their cooperation and commitment to environmental protection.
