Muscat: During February 2026, temperatures are forecast to be above the seasonal average across most areas of the Sultanate, according to the seasonal outlook issued by the Civil Aviation Authority.
Meteorological experts note that such warming trends are increasingly consistent with the broader impacts of global warming and climate change, which have led to rising average temperatures and more frequent deviations from historical climate patterns worldwide. Climate variability driven by increasing greenhouse gas emissions continues to influence regional weather systems, including those affecting the Arabian Peninsula.
The Civil Aviation Authority indicated that the expected rise in temperatures aligns with recent seasonal trends observed in the region, while some coastal areas along the southeastern parts of Oman may still record temperatures close to the climatic average.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has released its seasonal weather outlook for the period from January to March 2026, highlighting expectations of below-average rainfall and above-average temperatures across much of the Sultanate.
According to the seasonal bulletin issued in January 2026, rainfall during January is expected to be below the climatic average over most parts of the Sultanate of Oman, particularly across the northern regions. Some areas may experience rainfall amounts close to the seasonal average.
For February 2026, the outlook indicates that rainfall is likely to remain below average across most parts of the country. A similar pattern is forecast to continue into March, with rainfall expected to stay below the climatic norm across the Sultanate.
The Civil Aviation Authority noted that seasonal outlooks provide early indicators for weather patterns over extended periods and should not be considered precise forecasts.
