Muscat: Oman’s Majees Club bounced back to winning ways in the 44th Arab Men’s Club Volleyball Championship, currently being held in Tunisia, after securing a deserved victory in their second group-stage match against the Palestinian Forces team in straight sets, in the encounter played on Friday evening.
Majees produced a much improved technical performance compared to their opening match, asserting control from the very beginning thanks to powerful serving, solid defensive organisation and strong tactical discipline. They took the first set 25–15, before facing tougher resistance in the second set as the Palestinian side tried to fight back.
However, Majees kept their composure in the key moments and closed it out 25–23. In the third set, Majees maintained their dominance and attacking stability to seal the match 25–17, recording their first win of the tournament in three straight sets.
In the opening round, Majees had suffered a 3–0 defeat against Bahrain’s Al Muharraq in a match that was closer than the scoreline suggested, with the sets ending 25–18, 25–21 and 25–23. Majees matched the Bahraini side for long spells, particularly in the third set, but Al Muharraq’s experience proved decisive.

SEEB GO DOWN FIGHTING
Meanwhile, Oman’s Seeb Club began their campaign in the championship with a dramatic 3–2 loss to Qatar SC. The match was highly competitive across five sets, with Qatar edging the first set 26–24 and taking the second 25–20.
Seeb responded strongly in the third set, reducing the deficit after winning 25–18 thanks to improved attacking play and defensive organisation. They then forced a deciding set by claiming the fourth 25–19, with their players excelling in serving and blocking. However, Qatar clinched the fifth and final set 16–14 after a tense battle that went down to the wire, winning the match three sets to two.
Majees will face Qatar’s Police SC on Saturday at 4 pm, aiming to build on their momentum and strengthen their qualification hopes. Seeb, meanwhile, will take on Libya’s Al Swehly at 10 pm in another crucial group match.
In the rest of the tournament, Tunisia’s ES Sahel continued their strong form with a straight-set win over Libya’s Al Ittihad, while Al Swehly secured an important 3–1 victory over Algeria’s Tadjenanet Club. The Palestinian Forces team did not show up for their match against Iraq’s Al Shorta and were therefore recorded as losing 3–0 in accordance with tournament regulations.
