Muscat, Dec 2
Al Oruba secured a valuable and hard-fought 2–1 victory over Masirah in their Beach Soccer League clash at the sandy pitch of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher on Thursday.
The first period was evenly balanced, with both teams sharing possession and creating several dangerous chances, but neither side managed to break the deadlock. Strong goalkeeping and disciplined defending from both teams kept the score level at 0–0.
In the second period, Al Oruba raised their tempo and applied sustained pressure on Masirah’s goal. Their dominance paid off in the eighth minute, when Mohammed al Araimi converted a well-worked move inside the penalty area to give his side the lead.
Al Oruba continued to control the game in the third period and doubled their advantage through Fahd al Mashaykhi, putting his team in a more comfortable position. However, Masirah refused to give up and Yousuf al Zajali pulled one back late on, setting up a tense finale as Masirah pushed hard for an equaliser. Despite the pressure, Al Oruba’s defence and goalkeeper stood firm until the final whistle to seal a 2–1 win.
With this result, Al Oruba moved up to second place with 24 points, while Masirah dropped to third on 22 points in an intense race for the top positions.
