Oman Budget 2026: 42 new schools, 6 hospitals this year

During the media briefing on the 11th Five-Year Development Plan and the State Budget 2026, Abdullah al Harthi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, said that RO5.2 billion has been allocated for spending on social and basic sectors; the education sector accounts for 40 percent, social security and care for 26 percent, the health sector for 25 percent, and the housing sector for 9 percent. The education sector includes the construction of 42 new government schools will be completed.
The teaching staff in government schools will be bolstered by 4,000 male and female teachers during the year 2026, while the health institutions will be provided with qualified cadres through the appointment of 3,706 employees.
In the health sector, the construction of 6 government hospitals and 9 health institutions and centers will be completed in various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.
4,000 new teachers will be added to the teaching staff in government schools, which will reduce the number of evening schools in various governorates.
