MUSCAT, DEC 31
Curtains will rise for a month-long extravaganza of culture, heritage, infotainment, cuisines from across the world, and fun and frolic that will enliven the nights of the new year starting today. All roads will lead to the major venues of Muscat Nights.
Along with families, citizens, expatriates, women, and children, tourists and other visitors will have their own reasons to be joyful and engaged as the venues come alive with activities suitable for everyone at major locations around the governorate.
Some of the major happening places include Al Qurum Natural Park, Al Amerat Public Park, the Oman Automobile Association, the Royal Opera House Muscat, Al Seeb Beach (Sur Al Hadid), Qurayat and Wadi Al Khoudh. Additionally, several shopping malls have joined hands with the Muscat Municipality, the organisers of Muscat Nights, to be part of the celebrations.
Muscat Nights received more than a million visitors in the last edition, and the organisers are quite optimistic about receiving more than 2 million visitors to the venues this year as international interest in the celebrations has increased in recent editions.
“We are hopeful of receiving more than 2 million visitors to the major venues of Muscat Nights starting on January 1, as inquiries and bookings from abroad have risen substantially, resulting in a surge in inbound tourism to the Sultanate of Oman,” a member of the organising body told the Observer.
The wide range of activities is crafted with the youth in mind, with a number of mind-blowing activities lined up for them. The Oman Automobile Association and Wadi Al Khoudh will host a range of youth-oriented activities that combine challenge and action. These include drift car shows featuring professional demonstrations of advanced driving skills, as well as adventure activities such as zip-lining and interactive outdoor experiences in a safe and organised environment.
With a gamut of avenues for fun, entertainment and gastronomic delights, Muscat Nights 2026 is all set to offer a complete family experience at the dawn of the new year. Muscat will open its doors to an exceptional season that will reshape the city's urban landscape.
Additionally, a plethora of diversified venues have been chosen to allow visitors to experience the festival in multiple urban settings and with diverse themes. Events are held daily with curated programmes and expanded activities during weekends, providing flexible visitor options to ensure consistent attendance throughout the month.
Daily, alternate days, weekly, and one-time events include the ‘Light Festival’, the largest visual experience embodying the character Siraj, the mascot of Muscat Nights. Daily circus performances, drone artistic shows, Masha and the Bear show, a family adventure brimming with imagination and fun, children's play zone, family games, amusement parks, and daily parades are crafted for the whole family.
