NIZWA: The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) has launched the “Mazaya” initiative, a nationwide programme aimed at strengthening economic diversification and improving the investment climate across all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.
Unveiled in the Wilayat of Nizwa under the auspices of Shaikh Hilal bin Said al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, the initiative will roll out a series of discussion sessions in every governorate. These sessions will review existing investment incentives, propose new development incentives aligned with each governorate’s comparative advantages and support efforts to enhance competitiveness at both local and national levels.
Mazaya is a key outcome of OCCI’s strategic development workshop focused on serving the private sector. It is built on three core pillars: improving the business environment, expanding economic diversification and strengthening partnerships in governorate-level economic development.
Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of OCCI’s Board of Directors, said the initiative reflects a spirit of integration between the public and private sectors. He noted that supporting the unique strengths of each governorate is central to Oman’s decentralisation approach and is fully aligned with Oman Vision 2040, which places governorates at the heart of development and prioritises a diversified economy.
Al Rawas added that OCCI is committed to transforming local potential into concrete investment opportunities led by the private sector, backed by enabling policies and effective partnerships. He said the Chamber has worked closely with stakeholders to develop economic and development projects based on opportunity analysis in each governorate, ensuring alignment with national economic priorities while strengthening local content and added value.
Zakaria bin Abdullah al Saadi, CEO of OCCI, said the executive management has translated the Board’s vision into clear and practical plans through defined strategic directions. He stressed that Mazaya responds to the need for updated legislation and incentive packages that enhance the competitiveness of the Omani economy and broaden the base of economic diversification, supporting sustainable business growth across the governorates.
The launch event included a discussion session outlining the initiative’s objectives, implementation mechanisms and its role in offering competitive advantages and high-quality services to business owners. — ONA
