Vehicle registrationsin Oman continue upward trend

MUSCAT: The number of registered vehicles in the Sultanate of Oman rose by 5.6 per cent by the end of November 2025, reaching 1.84 million, compared with 1.75 million during the same period last year, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information.
Private vehicles accounted for the largest share, totalling 1.46 million units, marking a 5 per cent annual increase. Commercial vehicles followed with 272,233 registrations, up 7.7 per cent, while rental vehicles recorded stronger growth of 12.4 per cent to reach 44,075. Motorcycle registrations also rose by 12.6 per cent to 8,609, while taxis edged up slightly by 0.9 per cent to 28,495.
In terms of colour, white remained the most common choice with 778,846 vehicles, followed by silver and grey. Black vehicles accounted for about 98,333, while blue vehicles recorded a notable rise, exceeding 102,000 units.
Vehicles with engine capacities between 1,500 and 3,000 cc formed the largest segment, at just over one million units. This was followed by vehicles in the 3,001–4,500 cc range, while those exceeding 4,500 cc reached around 228,000.
Most registered vehicles weighed less than three tonnes, highlighting the dominance of light vehicles, while heavier vehicles above 10 tonnes accounted for just over 77,000 registrations. — ONA
