The Sohar Motors Festival (Second Edition) will roar back into action this Friday, following the outstanding success of its inaugural edition, which attracted large crowds and strong engagement from motorsports fans across the Al Batinah North Governorate.
Organised by the Office of the Governor of Al Batinah North in cooperation with the Oman Automobile Association (OAA), the festival will host a wide range of motorsports competitions and activities, including the Oman International Rally and the Freestyle Championships, reflecting the rapid growth of motorsports in the governorate and their rising popularity among youth and families alike.
Motorsports have become one of the most followed sports in Al Batinah North, supported by a vibrant fan base and increasing participation from young enthusiasts. This growing interest has played a key role in the continuity and expansion of the festival from one season to the next, turning it into a major annual sporting attraction.
The opening event of this year’s festival will be the Freestyle Championship, which takes place this Friday at Sohar Talent Square, a modern venue inaugurated last season. The facility serves as a fully integrated platform designed to nurture youth talent and channel their passion for motorsports within a safe, professional, and well-regulated environment that meets the highest safety standards.
The Oman Automobile Association confirmed that all competitions are conducted under a comprehensive operational system that includes strict safety regulations, professional event management, and technical supervision by qualified specialists, ensuring the protection of both participants and spectators while maintaining high organisational standards.
The Sohar Motors Festival forms part of broader joint efforts to promote sports tourism, support national motorsport talents, and strengthen the position of Al Batinah North Governorate as one of Oman’s leading hubs for motorsports events, contributing to the Sultanate of Oman’s growing reputation in this dynamic sporting sector.
