NIZWA: The second edition of the Family Creativity Forum commenced on Sunday in the Wilayat of Nizwa, organised by the Directorate-General of Social Development in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.
Held under the theme 'Together Towards an Inspiring and Active Family,' the three-day event is taking place at the Nizwa Grand Mall under the auspices of Shaikh Saleh bin Dhiyab al Rubaiee, Wali of Nizwa.
Azza bint Ali al Abdaliyah, Head of the Empowerment and Capacity Building Department, emphasised that the forum is designed to support productive families by providing economic empowerment and reinforcing their role in Oman’s sustainable development journey.
She noted that supporting these families is a fundamental pillar for achieving broader economic stability and social well-being. Through its 'Tamkeen' programme, the Ministry of Social Development has adopted a clear vision to invest in the potential of individuals and families.
The goal is to transform them into active community contributors by promoting the concept of self-employment and assisting families in managing their small and medium enterprises with high efficiency.
The forum serves as a vital platform for marketing home-based products, introducing them to the public, and encouraging a local culture that prioritises and supports domestic production.
Beyond its commercial aspect, the event fosters partnerships between various ministry sectors and the private sector to expand the scope of empowerment programmes. It also functions as a space for exchanging ideas, innovations and expertise that contribute to the local economy.
The forum’s itinerary includes a variety of accompanying activities such as traditional artistic performances, practical workshops, and interactive sessions for children and adults alike. A major highlight of the opening was the announcement of the 'Best Home Project' competition results for the governorate.
Organised by the Department of Partnership and Community Development, the competition saw the participation of 57 families. The ceremony honoured the top three winners for their excellence, while seven additional families received encouragement awards in recognition of their project sustainability and creative contributions to the local market. — ONA
