Muscat: Al Bashayer Club secured a valuable 59–48 victory over Al Seeb Club in the final match of the preliminary round of the Oman General Basketball League for the 2025–2026 season, moving to the top of the standings with 8 points, while Al Seeb finished second with 7 points after an exciting and highly competitive encounter.
The match was closely contested for most of its duration, with both teams exchanging momentum, but Al Bashayer managed to impose their rhythm thanks to their strong defence and effective offence. Standout performances came from Ahmed al Halhali, Osama al Riyami, Hadeed Bait Bakhit, and Saif al Tobi, who led the team in the decisive moments.
Al Bashayer started the game in better form at both ends of the court and quickly took the lead at 9–2, before Al Seeb fought back through the shooting of Rasheed al Zahibi and Jawad Adkouya to make it 10–4. Ahmed al Halhali then drained a three pointer, while Rasheed al Zahibi responded with a basket from under the hoop and a free throw to cut the margin to 13–7. The excitement continued as both sides exchanged points, with Al Seeb managing to level the score at 16–16, before Al Bashayer regained the lead through a basket by Mahmoud Al Sauli, ending the first quarter ahead 18–16.


In the second quarter, the offensive exchanges continued with high intensity, keeping the gap to just one point in favour of Al Bashayer at 19–18. However, Saif Al Tobi and Ahmed al Halhali added four quick points to extend the lead to 23–18, as Al Bashayer continued to dominate at both ends to close the first half in front 31–24.
The third quarter saw both teams trade baskets, with Al Bashayer maintaining their advantage at 35–27. Al Seeb players Jawad and Abdulrahman al Shaeibi scored four points with two close-range shots to cut the deficit to 35–31, before Jawad added a three pointer to make it 35–34. Despite the pressure, Al Bashayer responded well and widened the gap again, finishing the third quarter ahead 43–37.
In the final quarter, Al Seeb applied strong pressure and reduced the deficit to just one point at 43–42, but the experience of Al Bashayer’s players and their efficient use of chances, especially through Hadeed Bait Bakhit and Saif Al Tobi decided the contest in the closing minutes, sealing a 59–48 victory.
International referee Issam Al Siyabi officiated the match as first referee, Mazin al Hilali as second referee, and Taha al Ameri as third referee. The table officials were Rayan al Dhabouni, Majid al Akhrami, and Moosa al Siyabi, with international referee Faris al Khalasi serving as the technical commissioner.
