Oman dominate key events at Arab Shooting Championship

MUSCAT: Shooters from the Sultanate of Oman continued to deliver standout performances on Wednesday as several major events concluded at the Arab Shooting Championship for air and pellet weapons, one day before the tournament’s official close.
Oman claimed the top honours in the men’s 25 metre pistol individual event, with Yousuf bin Amer al Khatri securing the gold medal and teammate Yaqoub bin Abdullah al Siyabi taking silver, underlining the host nation’s dominance in the discipline. Bahrain’s Abdulmajid Jumaa Abdulkhaliq finished third to earn the bronze.
The Omani team further strengthened its position in the medal standings by winning gold in the men’s 25 metre pistol team competition, finishing ahead of Bahrain, who claimed silver, while Qatar secured the bronze medal.
In the women’s 25 metre pistol individual event, Moza Ali of Bahrain captured the gold medal following a strong showing, Ghazlan Hassan of Kuwait finished second to claim silver, while Salma al Mass of Qatar earned the bronze.
The women’s team competition in the same discipline saw Qatar take gold, with Bahrain securing silver and Oman finishing third with the bronze medal. Meanwhile, the 10 metres mixed pistol team event concluded with Kuwait winning the gold medal, Bahrain placed second, while the Oman team secured the bronze.
The Arab Shooting Championship concludes on Thursday at the National Olympic Shooting Complex in Muscat, following several days of high level competition that highlighted the technical progress of Arab shooters and the championship’s strong organisational standards.
