Muscat Classic to kick start Tour of Oman from Feb 6

Muscat: The Muscat Classic race, which precedes the Tour of Oman as a warm-up event, has been upgraded to the ProSeries category in its fourth and upcoming edition on February 6, 2026.
A new UCI points system will be applied to the ranking of the biggest one-day race on the Asian continent, placing it on a par with the Japan Cup at the end of the season.
The 15th edition of the five-stage Tour of Oman will be held from February 7 to 11. The cycling world body, UCI’s calendar event is organised by the Oman Cycling Association in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
The opening one-day race with a possible sprint finish, the Muscat Classic race will run for 180 km from Al Mouj to Al Bustan.
The first stage of the tour will start from the Flagpole in Muscat Governorate and finish at Hawiyat Najm in the Wilayat of Qurayat, over a distance of 175 km.

The second stage will start from Al Faihaa in the Wilayat of Samayil and finish at Jabal Al Sharqi in the Wilayat of Al Hamra, covering 194 km.
The 195-km third stage will begin from the Al Rustaq Fort and end at the Yiti Heights. The fourth stage will start from Al Sawadi Beach in the Wilayat of Barka and finish in the Wilayat of Suhar, over a distance of 152 km.
The final stage of the tour will start from the Wilayat of Nizwa and conclude at Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, covering 160 km.
18 TEAMS
A total of 18 international teams will participate in this edition: Alpecin–Deceuninck, EF Education–EasyPost, Groupama–FDJ United, Movistar Team, Team Jayco AlUla, Visma | Lease a Bike, UAE Team Emirates–XRG, Soudal Quick-Step, XDS Astana Team, Lotto Intermarché, Uno-X Mobility, Cofidis, Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, TotalEnergies, Tudor Pro Cycling Team, Caja Rural–Seguros RGA, Burgos Burpellet BH, in addition to the Oman national team.

Prominent riders expected to feature in the Tour of Oman 2026 include defending and two-time champion Adam Yates of Britain and UAE Team Emirates - XRG, Jordan Jegat of Total Energies and Valentin Paret-Peintre Soudal of Soudal Quick-Step.
Ranking wise, Roger Adria of Movistar Team, Brieuc Rolland of Groupama - FDJ United, Alexander Kamp of Uno-X Mobility and Rune Herregodts UAE Team Emirates come in the fourth to seventh rankings for the cycling spectacle in the Sultanate of Oman.
