Oman shine as air pistol events conclude at Arab shooting

MUSCAT: Shooters from the Sultanate of Oman delivered strong performance in several 10 metre air pistol events at the Arab Shooting Championship, which continues to bring together national teams from across the Arab world.
In the men’s individual 10m air pistol, Omani shooter Ismail bin Nasser al Abri claimed the gold medal after a composed display, finishing ahead of Ahmed al Sheikh of Bahrain, who took silver, while Ahmed al Amiri of the United Arab Emirates secured the bronze.
Oman also topped the men’s team standings, winning gold ahead of Saudi Arabia in second place, while Bahrain finished third.
In the women’s individual competition, Salma Abbas al Mas of Qatar won the gold, followed by Moza Ali Abdulrahim of Bahrain in second. The bronze medal went to Duaa Rahmatullah Habib, also representing Qatar.
At the team level, Bahrain claimed gold in the women’s event, with Qatar taking silver and Oman securing bronze.
The girls’ youth U17 10m air pistol event saw Oman’s Ahad bint Younis al Balushi take gold, while Reem Abdullah al Ketbi of the UAE finished second. Another Omani shooter, Rafal bint Hilal al Harthy, earned the bronze.
In the boys’ youth U17 category, Mahmoud bin Salim al Daraei of Oman won the gold, with Mohammed Kamel al Kaabi of the UAE taking the silver and Saud Ahmed al Ali, also from the UAE, securing the bronze.
The results underscored Oman’s growing presence in the championship, which continues over the coming days with further competitions in air and pellet shooting disciplines.
