OOC vice-chairman receives ISSF president

MUSCAT: Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Vice-Chairman of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC), received Luciano Rossi, President of International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF), along with his accompanying delegation, during their official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
The meeting discussed a number of topics related to the sport of shooting, including an overview of the current status of the sport at both the local and international levels. The two sides also explored ways to enhance mutual cooperation between OOC and the ISSF, with the aim of developing shooting sports, upgrading technical and administrative capacities and supporting athlete development programmes.
The meeting also addressed Oman’s hosting of the Arab Championship for Air and Bullet Weapons Shooting, currently taking place with the participation of 14 Arab countries. In this context, the ISSF president praised the high level of organisation and the efforts made to ensure the success of the championship, affirming that hosting such events reflects the advanced position Oman has attained on the map of regional and international sports event hosting.
For his part, Dr Abdullah emphasised Oman Olympic Committee’s commitment to support shooting, expanding its grassroots base and continuing cooperation with the International Shooting Sport Federation in a manner that serves the aspirations of Omani athletes and enhances their presence in
international competitions.
