SUHAR: As part of a forward-looking approach to community safety and human capital development, Mawarid launched 'Monqidh' (Rescuer) initiative, a large-scale first aid training programme aimed at equipping citizens with life-saving skills and strengthening emergency preparedness across the Wilayat of Al Khabourah.
The initiative, the first of its kind in the area, has been implemented in cooperation with the Office of the Wali of Al Khabourah and executed by Al Khabourah Health Complex.
It officially commenced in December and will continue for three months. The initiative targets the training of 600 individuals through approximately 20 specialised workshops, delivered in a mix of public venues, schools, and key community gathering spaces to ensure broad accessibility and impact.
Shaikh Yousef bin Hassan al Balhaf, Wali of Al Khabourah, stressed that the initiative reflects a strategic investment in people and community resilience. He noted that building awareness of first aid is no longer optional, but a societal necessity.
“Monqidh contributes to creating a conscious and prepared community capable of responding effectively to emergency situations,” he said. “By empowering citizens with essential first aid skills, we are enhancing their ability to act confidently in critical moments, whether at home, in public places, or at work, until professional medical teams arrive.”
From the private sector perspective, Jack Yosteh, representing Mawarid, emphasised that the initiative aligns with the company’s commitment to social responsibility and sustainable community development. He explained that immediate and correct first aid intervention during the first minutes of an emergency can significantly reduce complications and save lives.
“Training community members to deal with critical injuries before the arrival of specialised authorities can make the difference between life and death,” he said, adding that such initiatives create long-term social value beyond their immediate outcomes. The programme has already received positive feedback from participants and the wider community.
By bringing together public institutions, the private sector, and the local community, the Monqidh Initiative stands as a practical model for preventive health awareness and community empowerment, reinforcing the idea that saving lives begins with knowledge.
