High-level delegation visits Belarusian State University

 

As part of the events to mark the  'Oman Day' in Minsk, the capital of the Republic of Belarus, a delegation from the National Museum and Sultan Qaboos University visited Belarusian State University.
The delegation was headed by Her Highness Sayyida Dr Mona bint Fahd al-Said, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University for International Cooperation and Deputy Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the National Museum, accompanied by Jamal bin Hassan al Moosawi, Secretary-General of the National Museum and Ambassador Abdullah bin Hamad al-Riyami, Head of the Cultural Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The visit commenced with a meeting with Andrei Ivanets, Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus, and Dr Andrei Korol, Rector of Belarusian State University.
Discussions focused on ways to enhance academic and research cooperation, Arabic language education, cultural exchange, student exchange programmes, reciprocal visits by researchers between Sultan Qaboos University and the Belarusian side, and the development of cultural and knowledge-based partnerships that serve the shared interests of the two friendly countries.

The visit included a tour of the Faculty of International Relations, during which the delegation viewed the exhibition marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi occupation, reflecting a significant period in Belarusian history.
The delegation also viewed a special exhibition on Omani literature, highlighting Omani intellectual and literary output and its development, reflecting the strength of the cultural ties between the two countries. In addition, the delegation visited a number of the University’s faculties to familiarise themselves with their facilities and academic programmes.

The delegation visited the Omani Centre of Arabic Language and Culture, located within the Faculty of International Relations building at the University, which was inaugurated in 2018 to serve as a bridge for linguistic and cultural exchange in the capital, Minsk.

Al Moosawi delivered a lecture titled “Oman: Crossroads of Civilisation ”, in which he highlighted Oman’s deep-rooted history and its role as a link between global civilisations throughout the ages, in the presence of several university students.
