MUSCAT: The Projects, Tenders and Local Content Authority, in cooperation with the Office of the Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, will organise the second 'Governorates’ Ambassadors' Forum on Tuesday, December 23.
The three-day event is part of ongoing efforts to enhance institutional integration and exchange expertise among various government entities.
Eng Said bin Hamad al Amri, Director-General of Tenders at the Authority, explained that the forum provides an opportunity to bolster the capabilities of local cadres and develop work tools within governors' offices. This aligns with the trend towards empowering governorates to exercise broader powers under the decentralisation framework, contributing to balanced and sustainable development across Oman.
In a statement to ONA, he added that the forum — which includes officials, engineers and specialists overseeing government projects in Al Dakhiliyah — aims to build effective communication channels.
It focuses on exchanging best practices in contracts, tenders and project management, while supporting local content to achieve integration in government work and reviewing major developmental projects implemented in the governorate.
The forum’s agenda includes several specialised sessions and workshops. The second day is dedicated to field visits to witness progress on key projects. The final day will conclude with technical workshops.
The 'Governorates’ Ambassadors' Forum held its first edition in Muscat and will continue to rotate periodically across different governorates. This step aims to unify practices, develop institutional work tools in contracts and tenders, and support local content.
The organisation of this forum embodies the approach of good governance, solidifying principles of transparency and integrating national efforts to enhance the efficiency of government performance throughout the Sultanate of Oman. - ONA
