Al Amerat Club strengthened their position at the top of the Second Division Handball League for the 2025–2026 season after securing a convincing 32–22 victory over Al Suwaiq Club in a match played the evening before last at the indoor hall of Al Rustaq Sports Complex, as part of the league’s fifth round.
With this win, Al Amerat raised their tally to eight points, recording their fourth consecutive victory and concluding the first round of the competition with an impressive and dominant performance.
In the second match, Al Musannah Club claimed a hard fought 26–25 win over Masirah Club at the main indoor hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, the victory marked Al Musannah second win of the season, lifting their total to four points and keeping their qualification hopes alive.
The first round of the league will conclude with a single match between Al Musannah and Al Suwaiq on the 23rd of the current month, which is expected to play a key role in determining the final standings of the qualifying teams.
The Second Division Handball League is played under a single round league format, with the top three teams advancing to the second stage, the qualified teams then compete in another single round league, with the top ranked team advancing directly to the final, while the second and third placed teams face each other in a playoff match the winner advances to the final to contest the title, while the loser secures third place.
