MUSCAT: The National Museum concluded its 2025 series of six musical evenings, organised in collaboration with the Rosconcert Music Foundation and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
The events were part of the museum’s cultural programme celebrating 40 years of diplomatic and cultural relations between Oman and the Russian Federation. The series aimed to highlight the depth of artistic cooperation between the two countries and promote cultural dialogue through music and the arts.
Through the musical evenings, the National Museum sought to consolidate its position as a platform for multicultural musical exchange, offering the public the opportunity to experience masterpieces of world classical music in a sophisticated artistic atmosphere. The initiative also reinforced the museum’s role as a vibrant cultural hub, extending beyond traditional exhibits to include contemporary creative experiences and high-calibre performances.
The sixth and final evening featured a trio of elite balalaika players from Russia — Konstantin Zakharot, Kirill Yakhminev and Oleg Beskunov — accompanied by pianist Marat Manserev of the Solo Tango Orchestra. The performance seamlessly blended the rich traditions of Russian instrumental music with a modern sensibility, delivering a captivating and refined artistic experience.
Over several weeks, the six-evening series showcased performances by top-tier Russian musicians and ensembles, presenting a curated selection of international classical works. The events offered audiences, both local and international, an opportunity to engage with world-class music in a setting that fostered cultural exchange and appreciation.
The National Museum’s Russian Music Evenings reaffirm its commitment to cultural diplomacy, intercultural understanding and the use of music as a bridge for dialogue between peoples. - ONA
