Oman, India sign joint document, executive programme, 4 MOUs

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of India signed today an executive programme, a joint vision document, and four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in Muscat.
The signing took place within the framework of the current official visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of India to the Sultanate of Oman.
The signing ceremony included the Joint Maritime Vision Document and an executive programme for cooperation in millet cultivation and innovation in the food and agricultural industries.
Additionally, four MOUs were signed covering cooperation in: Maritime heritage and museums; Scientific research, innovation, and skills development; Agriculture and its related sectors and an MOU between Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Signing on behalf of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman were Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; Issa bin Saleh al Shibani, Ambassador of Oman to India and Zakariya bin Abdullah al Saadi, CEO of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Representing the Government of the Republic of India were Dr S Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs, Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Godavarthi Venkata Srinivas, Ambassador of India to the Oman and Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General of the Confederation of Indian Industry.
Zakariya bin Abdullah Al Saadi, CEO of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), explained that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) aims to activate joint cooperation across various economic sectors. This will be achieved through several tools to be implemented in the coming phase, including the exchange of joint trade delegations between the two countries, focusing on specific economic sectors viable for investment in both friendly nations, and working to attract investors from the Republic of India to the Sultanate of Oman.
Furthermore, he added that the MoU involves organizing events and exhibitions to promote the products and services of Omani companies in the Indian market.
For his part, Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General of the Confederation of Indian Industry, stated that the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the CII with the OCCI will contribute to expanding partnerships between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of India in various investment, commercial, and economic fields.
He added that there are many promising opportunities between the two sides in various areas, such as education, technology, industry, infrastructure, services, and tourism, expressing his aspiration for further close work with the Omani side.
