Final round of OAA Sprint Rally in Nakhal tomorrow

MUSCAT: The third and final round of the Sprint Rally, organised by the Oman Automobile Association (OAA), starts on Friday with two new stages taking place in the Wilayat of Nakhal in the Al Batinah South Governorate.
This round will be held over two stages, the first of which is the Nakhal stage, covering a distance of approximately five kilometres and the second stage will be held in Al Sareer area, covering a distance of 19 km. The two stages will be repeated three times, separated by two services and refuelling period, before heading to the price giving ceremony area which will be held near the Sultan Qaboos Mosque in the Wilayat of Nakhal.
Rally driver Haitham Soomar and his well-known navigator Taha Soomar is currently leading the championship after winning the second round, which took place in Al Misfah and Al Jifnain. He had previously achieved second place in the first round of the Sprint Rally in Al Jifnain and Al Misfah areas.
A group of local rally drivers will participate in this rally both in cars as well as on Can-Ams. Competitor Haitham Soomar, driving a Mitsubishi Evo 7, aiming to achieve the title of the third and final round to be crowned championship title this year after three rounds in which he competed with a group of local competitors.
As for the motorcycle category (Can-Am), the group is leaded by Saif al Harthy on a Can-Am Maverick, who was hoping to win this round to secure the title of this category, but fortunately will miss this rally due to not availability of his Can Am. The first stage of the rally will start at 10 am from Nakhal before the participating cars and bikes move on to complete the rally in the second stage in the Al Sareer area.
The rally includes a group of competitors, including Salem al Tooqi, Ghaith al Qasimi, Hafidh al Numani, Bashar al Qasimi, Musab Soomar, and Mazin al Shaibani.
