BRASILIA: The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Brasília, led by Ambassador Abdulghaffar bin Abdulkarim al Balushi, hosted a special ceremony to celebrate Oman’s National Day and honour the nation’s renaissance, achievements and sustainable development journey.
Oman’s National Day was commemorated in Brasília last week. The Brazilian capital is the only city in Latin America to host an Omani embassy, reflecting the strong ties between the two nations.
The event highlighted Oman’s enduring identity, unity and prosperity, shaped by its rich heritage and forward-looking leadership. Images of the country’s golden dunes, ancient forts, frankincense trails and warm hospitality were evoked as symbols of its cultural depth.
The celebration also reaffirmed the strength of relations between Oman and Brazil — two nations geographically distant yet aligned in values of dialogue, development and mutual respect. Since establishing diplomatic ties in 1974, both countries have deepened cooperation across political, economic and cultural spheres.
Oman remains one of the Gulf’s most stable and strategically significant countries, and an important trading partner for Brazil. Oman imports Brazilian meat, sugar, iron ore, and processed foods, while exporting fertilisers, petroleum and derivatives — demonstrating a balanced and complementary economic partnership strengthened through missions, fairs and bilateral initiatives.
