MUSCAT: Oman Refreshment Company launched an initiative in celebration of World Children’s Day, observed annually on November 20 under the supervision of Unicef.
The initiative focuses on creating a safe, engaging and supportive environment for children at Sohar Hospital by preparing four dedicated spaces: a waiting area, an examination room, a pre-admission area and an activity room.
Organised in partnership with the Health Endowment Foundation 'Athar', the initiative aims to reach between 80 and 100 children. Sohar Hospital was selected for its significance as one of Oman’s largest government hospitals, providing specialised medical services across four governorates, Al Batinah North, Al Batinah South, Al Buraimi and Al Dhahirah. The hospital’s location in a densely populated area further underscores the importance and impact of this effort.
Sulaiman al Salmi, Director of People, Culture and Corporate Services at Oman REFCO, said: “Oman Refreshment Company is proud to be among the national companies marking World Children’s Day this year in alignment with Unicef’s goals. This initiative reflects our belief in the vital human and developmental role we play as a responsible Omani company.”
Al Salmi also expressed the company’s appreciation for its collaboration with Athar and Sohar Hospital, reaffirming Oman REFCO’s ongoing commitment to community initiatives that enhance the well-being of children and society at large, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
Highlighting the value of such efforts, Hilal al Sarimi, CEO of the Health Endowment Foundation 'Athar', praised the initiative for its contribution to improving the healthcare environment for children. He stressed the importance of community partnerships that elevate the quality of services provided across Oman’s health institutions, expressing hope for further collaborations with private-sector companies in similar impactful initiatives.
The signing ceremony was attended by Ahmed al Khonji, Board Member at Athar; Mousa al Raisi, Board Member at Oman REFCO; and Youssef Ezzikhe, CEO of Oman REFCO.
