MUSCAT: A celebration was held on Tuesday in the Wilayat of Al Seeb, Muscat Governorate, to mark the conclusion of the Mosque Programmes in their twelfth session, organised by the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science.
The event was held under the auspices of Habib bin Mohammed al Riyami, Chairman of the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science.
Al Riyami stated that the Mosque Programmes represent one of the most important pathways for establishing the role of the mosque as a centre of intellectual and spiritual enlightenment in society. He added that they are an extension of a firm approach based on promoting values and achieving integration between the mosque's mission and the needs of the individual and society.
This year's programmes featured a wide diversity that included lessons, lectures, evening events and summer courses. These covered religious, jurisprudential and theological topics, in addition to psychological, health and social axes, and issues of national identity, thought, economy and contemporary medicine.
The programmes also hosted an elite group of academics, literati, thinkers, specialists and scholars. The total number of programmes and activities reached more than 500 events distributed across the Royal Mosques in the various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. - ONA
