MUSCAT: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism held a workshop on Sunday in Muscat titled 'Prospects of the Tourism Sector in the Sultanate of Oman', as part of the 'Welcome Oman' initiative targeting European tourism markets, including Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Russia, and Belarus, under its 2025 tourism promotion plans.
The workshop focused on identifying opportunities in these key markets, aiming to host around 70 tourism companies to strengthen communication between local tourism partners and international counterparts, and to promote Omani tourism products, experiences, and hotels, thereby boosting inbound tourism to the Sultanate of Oman.
The programme includes sightseeing tours across several governorates — Musandam, Al Dakhiliyah, South and North Al Sharqiyah, Muscat, and Dhofar — allowing participants to experience Oman’s cultural and heritage assets, authentic experiences, handicrafts, and local heritage products.
Additionally, participants will attend training sessions on Omani tourism offerings and hold business meetings and workshops to exchange experiences and foster cooperation between industry peers.
The initiative is part of Oman’s broader efforts to showcase its rich cultural and natural heritage while expanding its presence in international tourism markets. - ONA
