Abundant winter crops boost activity at Rustaq market

Al RUSTAQ: The ‘Tawi Al Hara’ market in the Wilayat of Al Rustaq, Al Batinah South Governorate, witnessed vibrant commercial activity, with a strong turnout from farmers and shoppers following the arrival of abundant quantities of fresh winter crops from various wilayats of the governorate and neighbouring areas.
The market offered a wide variety of produce, including lemons, cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, lettuce, radishes, coriander, parsley and mint, alongside seasonal grains such as corn, wheat, spelt, chickpeas and cowpeas, in addition to garlic, onions, quince and fodder.

The market showcased its new look after recent development works that reorganised sales areas, upgraded facilities, created dedicated pathways for smooth movement, and installed modern canopies for product display — enhancing the overall quality of services provided to sellers and shoppers alike. The improvements also included a new livestock auction area, expanded entrances, exits and parking spaces and the addition of modern amenities throughout the market.
Farmers noted that the abundance and high quality of this season’s produce are attributed to favourable climatic conditions, which have helped maintain price stability as crops begin entering local markets.
Tawi Al Hara remains one of Al Rustaq’s key agricultural hubs and a vital marketing outlet for farmers in the region, with expectations of continued inflow of winter crops in the coming months. – ONA
