Bahrain camp begins for Oman 3x3

MUSCAT: Oman’s national 3x3 basketball teams, the men’s team, youth team, and women’s team, have entered a new phase of preparation as they arrived in the Kingdom of Bahrain to begin an intensive training camp. The senior and women’s teams will train from November 15 to 18, while the youth team will also participate in the GCC Youth Championship, hosted in Bahrain from November 18 to 20 .
These preparations come as part of a comprehensive build-up programme ahead of the Arab and Gulf Youth Championships, which will be hosted in Muscat from November 25 to 29, 2025. The technical and administrative staff continue to elevate the readiness of all teams through focused training sessions, internal camps, and physical-conditioning programmes, ensuring the players are fully prepared for regional competition that will see wide participation from Arab and Gulf nations.
The women’s national team is led by coach Wafa Zaghdoud, who focuses on enhancing both tactical and physical aspects of the players’ performance. The squad consists of:
Shams al Khanji, Fatma al Nuaimi, Nareen al Mammari, Ruba al Kalbani, Reema al Maghiri, Zainab al Busaidy, Malak al Salimi, Sayyidah Lamar al Said, Reem al Shirawi, and Aisha al Yafei.
The youth and senior men’s national teams are under the leadership of national coach Mohammed al Owaisi. The U-18 national 3x3 youth team includes eight players:
Mashal Qafqaf, Muhab al Humaissim, Mazin al Owaisi, Ibrahim al Balushi, Azd al Bahlani, Azzan al Ajmi, Adam al Hinai, and Akram al Rashdi.The youth team’s administrative staff includes: Ghassan al Busaidy (Team Manager) and Sulaiman al Muslimi (Physiotherapist).
The first men’s 3x3 national team consists of eight players: Ahmed al Halhali, Hadeed bin Abdulhakeem Beit Bakhit, Osama al Riyami, Abdulrahman al Maamari, Ahmed al Sinani, Rashid al Zuhaimi, Ahmed al Maamari, and Abdulrahman al Shueibi.
Preparations are progressing smoothly, with high commitment and strong morale among players a promising indication of the teams’ readiness for strong competition and their ambition to deliver impressive performances and secure advanced positions in the upcoming championships. The technical and administrative staff express full confidence in the players' abilities to represent Oman in the best possible way.
National coach Mohammed al Owaisi confirmed that the training camps for the first men’s team and youth 3x3 basketball teams in Bahrain represent a continuation of the intensive preparation phase ahead of the Arab and Gulf Championships in Muscat. He explained that the youth team began its programme early in July with a local camp, followed by an external camp in the UAE, gaining important technical benefits. He noted that the Gulf Championship in Bahrain will offer strong competitive exposure before the Arab event in Muscat.
As for the senior team, Al Owaisi said they completed an intensive internal camp focusing on fitness, movement under pressure, and shooting accuracy, and that the friendly matches in Bahrain will help measure the team’s actual readiness. He added that selecting players born in 2007–2009 comes as part of a plan to support young talents, pointing out that weekend-only training sessions before travel were due to players’ university commitments, ensuring the preparation programme continued without interruption.
