EA conducts national study on treated water quality

The Environment Authority is carrying out a comprehensive national study to analyze the quality of treated water from 217 wastewater and industrial treatment plants across the Sultanate of Oman.
The initiative aims to promote the sustainable management of water resources, assess treatment efficiency, and ensure the safe environmental reuse of treated water.
Dr Imran bin Mohammed al Kamzari, Director of the Environment Quality Department at the Environment Authority, told the Oman News Agency (ONA) that the study comes in response to the challenges facing Oman due to the scarcity of water resources and the country’s heavy reliance on seawater desalination and limited groundwater to meet growing demand.
He added that wastewater and industrial treatment plants form one of the main pillars of the water management system, given their role in reuse and in easing pressure on natural resources.
