Al Amerat crush Qurayat 14–4, Sohar edge Seeb

Sohar and Al Amerat Clubs succeeded in claiming victory on Monday at the start of the first-round matches of Group Six in the final stages of the 55th edition of His Majesty's Hockey Cup 2025.
In the match between Al Amerat and Qurayat, Al Amerat earned a sweeping 14–4 win at the Hockey Oman Stadium in Al Amerat, reaffirming their ambition to defend the prestigious title they won last season.
Al Amerat started the match with clear attacking pressure, which resulted in an early goal in the second minute, scored by Uttam Singh from a penalty corner, giving his team a 1–0 lead. Just three minutes later, in the fifth minute, Aliyas bin Sulaman al Nofali doubled the score with a fine field goal, making it 2–0.
Qurayat did not give up and quickly narrowed the gap in the same fifth minute through the experienced Mohammed bin Mobassher al Bulushi with a field strike, before equalising in the 13th minute through Hamza Ali from a penalty corner, bringing the match back level at 2–2. However, Al Amerat responded strongly, as Jonghyun Jang scored twice in the 13th and 15th minutes with brilliant field goals, ending the first quarter with Al Amerat leading 4–2.
Al Amerat continued their attacking power, adding a fifth goal through Uttam Singh in the 22nd minute after a successful follow-up inside the circle. Jonghyun Jang returned to score from a penalty corner in the 25th minute, ending the second quarter with a comfortable 6–2 lead.
In the 33rd minute, Uttam Singh extended the gap with the seventh goal from a field attack, before adding his team’s eighth goal in the 36th minute, confirming his dominance and completing a 'super hat-trick'. Qurayat reduced the gap with two goals scored by Mohammed al Bulushi and Ashraf al Nasri, ending the quarter with Al Amerat ahead 8–4.


In the final quarter, Al Amerat added further goals through Jonghyun Jang, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Uttam Singh and Osama Nasab, sealing a resounding 14–4 victory.
SOHAR PREVAIL IN THRILLER
On the same pitch, Sohar defeated Seeb 4–3.
Sohar did not allow Seeb much time to enter the match rhythm, opening the scoring early in the first minute through Pratap Lakra from a penalty corner to make it 1–0.
Seeb responded quickly with an equaliser in the fourth minute, scored by Abdullah Waleed al Hasan with a fine field goal after a well-organised attacking play, bringing the score to 1–1.
Sohar regained the lead in the 10th minute through a field goal by Omar Mubarak al Maamari, ending the first quarter 2–1 in their favour.
The second and third quarters saw a balanced exchange of control and attacking attempts from both teams. Seeb managed to equalise again in the 22nd minute through Fahad Hassan al Lawati from a penalty corner, making it 2–2.
Sohar responded immediately in the same minute with a third goal through Omar Mubarak al Maamari from a field strike, before Pratap Lakra added another penalty-corner goal in the 26th minute to extend the score to 4–2 for Sohar.
Seeb entered the final quarter determined to come back and succeeded in reducing the gap in the 35th minute through Mandeep from a penalty corner, igniting the closing minutes of the match. Despite Seeb’s intense attempts to equalise, Sohar’s defence and goalkeeper stood firm to protect the lead until the final whistle.
