Oman promotes national circular economy agenda

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Economy has launched the third workshop under the “National Circular Economy Project in the Sultanate of Oman”, bringing together experts, policymakers and private sector representatives to accelerate the nation’s transition towards a sustainable, resource-efficient economy.
The two-day workshop, which began on Tuesday, seeks to review Oman’s circular economy road map, assess progress made so far and refine key policies that will guide implementation in the years ahead. Participants also examined baseline findings and feedback from relevant authorities, as well as the results of scenario modelling that evaluates potential strategies and policy interventions.
The event featured a series of presentations highlighting ongoing circular economy initiatives across the Sultanate of Oman, including efforts by government bodies, private sector companies and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). These initiatives underscore Oman’s growing commitment to reducing waste, improving resource efficiency and promoting innovation in sustainable production and consumption.
Interactive sessions allowed participants to identify priority policies, key stakeholders and strategic partners essential to advancing circular economy activities across sectors such as industry, energy, agriculture and waste management.
According to the Ministry of Economy, the workshop reflects Oman’s determination to align economic diversification efforts with environmental sustainability — a core pillar of Oman Vision 2040.
Experts and representatives from government institutions, academia and the private sector are contributing their expertise to ensure the project results in actionable outcomes that drive national progress in green growth and sustainability. — ONA
