AL SUWAIQ: A delegation from the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) visited Hind Bint Omar Basic Education School in the Wilayat of Al Suwaiq.
The visit formed part of the pilot phase of the 'Stories on Sustainable Development' project implemented by the organisation.
The delegation aimed to observe the school’s initiatives in promoting awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among students through educational stories and interactive activities designed to enhance environmental and social responsibility while encouraging sustainable practices within the school environment.
During the visit, the ALECSO team reviewed several student-led educational activities and toured an exhibition showcasing projects in scientific, educational and professional fields. Students also presented cultural and artistic performances highlighting Omani heritage and national identity.
The visit also served as an opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss best practices in integrating sustainability concepts into school curricula. The delegation met with teachers and administrators to learn how creative storytelling and project-based learning have been adopted to convey SDG principles in engaging ways that resonate with young learners.
At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation praised the school’s outstanding role in integrating sustainability concepts into education and practice, which foster students’ creativity, teamwork and innovation. Such initiatives, they noted, align with the aspirations of Oman Vision 2040 to nurture a generation aware of environmental and sustainable development issues. - ONA
