MUSCAT: The curtain falls today (Wednesday) on the 2025/2026 Handball League with an exciting final showdown between Muscat, the defending champion and Seeb, aiming for their long awaited first title.
The match kicks off at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, under the auspices of Jihad al Shaikh, Vice-Chairman of Oman Club and in the presence of Musa al Balushi, Chairman of the Oman Handball Association (OHA), along with board members and club representatives.
Before the grand final, Nizwa and Ahli Sidab will face off to determine the third and fourth positions.
Muscat enters the final with strong momentum after an impressive season, highlighted by their 36–22 victory over Nizwa in the semifinal second leg, following a close 23–21 win in the first, led by national coach Majid al Hasani, Muscat relies on disciplined defence and quick counterattacks, the team seeks to defend its crown and extend its golden record, having claimed the title six times the most recent being last season cementing its dominance in youth handball.
On the other side, Seeb approaches the match with confidence after defeating Ahli Sidab twice, 32–26 and 26–17, to book their place in the final, under the guidance of national coach Ali al Balushi, Seeb is determined to end its runner up streak, having finished second in the last three consecutive seasons and to finally lift the championship trophy.
Today’s clash promises to be thrilling, pitting Muscat’s experience against Seeb’s youthful energy, with both sides eager to prove their strength in front of passionate fans at the Bausher complex.
The 2025/2026 U-17 Handball League featured eight clubs, divided into two groups and was open to players born in 2008 and later, the Oman Handball Association has allocated trophies, medals and financial rewards for the top three teams, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing young talent and supporting the future of Omani handball.
