MANAH: The third edition of the 'Manah Advances You' Forum, organised by the Office of the Wali of Manah at the Oman Across Ages Museum, reviewed major development and future projects in the wilayat.
The forum sought to outline priorities for the next phase and strengthen cooperation between government bodies, the private sector and the local community, thereby contributing to balanced and comprehensive development.
Shaikh Hilal bin Said al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, said that the 'Grants That Advance You' initiative reflects the government’s approach to empowering governorates and promoting balanced development through administrative decentralisation and effective partnerships. He noted that these efforts align with Oman Vision 2040, particularly the priority of building sustainable governorates and cities to enhance service efficiency, investment appeal and quality of life.
He highlighted several vital projects completed in Manah this year, including an internal roads project, development of the public park, installation of a modern irrigation system at the wilayat’s entrance and the commercial area development project — all contributing to increased economic activity.
The Commercial Area Development Project is expected to be awarded soon, further enhancing services and supporting the local economy.
Dr Aflah bin Said al Hadhrami, Managing Director of Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), stressed the importance of fostering innovation and leadership among Omani youth. He highlighted PDO’s commitment to empowering local engineers through initiatives focusing on productivity, cost efficiency, safety, governance and corporate value.
The forum also featured presentations from several government and private institutions. The General Directorate of Education in Al Dakhiliyah showcased its digital transformation initiatives in schools, while the Department of Awqaf and Religious Affairs reviewed its role in mosque maintenance and promoting community values.
Wadi Noor Solar Energy Company presented the Manah 1 Solar Power Plant project, emphasising sustainability and clean energy. Athar Investment Company outlined the Harat Al Balad development project, expected to create more than 60 direct and 55 indirect jobs, alongside 16 subsidiary investment projects boosting local tourism.
Al Dakhiliyah Municipality presented its projects related to internal roads, lighting and parks, while Nama Water Services Company reviewed its ongoing projects — notably a water network nearing completion at a cost of RO 25 million.
The Manah Charity Team concluded the forum with an overview of its community initiatives in family and youth empowerment, education, health and housing, including an endowment investment project aimed at achieving financial sustainability for civil society programmes. - ONA
