Young riders in forefront at Al Majd Show Jumping League

BARKA: The Al Majd Show Jumping League 2025-26 kicked off under the supervision of the Oman Equestrian and Racing Federation, jointly organised by Al Said Stables, the Olympic Equestrian Training Centre, Al Rayan Stables and Horseira Equestrian Club.
The opening round took place at the Olympic Equestrian Training Center arena, featuring a large number of riders from various government cavalry units and private stables.
The event included four categories: 50 cm, 70 cm, 90 cm (ages 10–16), and 90 cm Open, attracting families, friends and horse lovers who added great enthusiasm and support to the young competitors. Several local youth projects also participated with food and beverage stalls, creating a lively and social atmosphere.
In the 50 cm category, Abdulrahman al Wahibi from Al Asayel Stables claimed first place, followed by Adil al Jahdhami in second, Clements Victoria in third, Layan al Waeli in fourth, and Sarah Marisha in fifth. The 70 cm category, which featured 46 riders, was won by Ayman al Harrasi from Horseira Club, with Mohammed Zakariya and Abdullah Hamed taking second and third.


Anas al Wahibi, Mutawasim Ahmed, Doha al Hashmi, Eman al Rashdi, Hamza Mohammed, Tania Taimur and Karma Ibrahim completed the top ten.
In the 90 cm ages 10–16 category, Emila from Said al Hashmi Stables took first place, while Nasser al Rahbi finished second.
Meanwhile, in the 90 cm Open category, Wafaa Rashid from the Royal Oman Police topped the standings, followed by Al Qasim al Mandhari, Mohammed al Touqi, Hamad al Manji, Mohammed Zakariya, Jamal al Raisi and Nasser al Harasi.
At the end of each category, riders were awarded trophies and medals in recognition of their outstanding performances. Colonel Retd Farooq al Adawi emphasised that such competitions lay the foundation for building a strong base of show jumping riders who can compete at higher levels in the future.
Hammoud al Touqi, owner of the Olympic Equestrian Training Centre, noted that the league was inspired by a shared vision among the four stables to empower young riders and prepare them for official competitions.
Meanwhile, Abeer Riyadh Sultan, owner of Horseira Equestrian Club, highlighted that the partnership aims to develop the sport by focusing on beginners and juniors, fostering competitive spirit and attracting more talented riders and quality horses to the sport’s future.
