AL BURAIMI: The Ministry of Health has launched an advanced surgical laser device at Al Buraimi Hospital for treating anal fistulas, hemorrhoids, and pilonidal sinus. The initiative is part of the hospital’s ongoing plan to enhance surgical services and patient care.
The laser device represents the latest in microsurgery technology, reducing post-operative pain, bleeding, infection risks and recovery times. During the trial period, which began on September 17, eleven operations were conducted at a rate of three to four cases per week.
Dr Majid bin Rashid al Muqbali, Director-General of Health Services, highlighted the hospital’s consistent efforts to develop healthcare services by providing qualified personnel and modern equipment.
Dr Mozan bint Ali al Ghaithiyah, a general surgeon, noted that the device enables delicate surgeries, improving outcomes and accelerating recovery.
Senior Consultant Dr Yasser Abbas added that the device minimises hospitalisation time and expedites wound healing. Patients undergoing laser procedures reported minimal discomfort and faster return to daily activities.
The service extends beyond Al Buraimi Governorate, serving patients from multiple neighbouring governorates, reflecting the ministry’s vision for equitable distribution of specialised healthcare services. — ONA
