MUSCAT: The second edition of the Oman Endowment Conference 2025 is set to begin on December 9 under the theme ‘Endowment and Enhancing Economic Diversification.’ The event, organised jointly by the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs and the Bausher Endowment Foundation, will be held over two days at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Dr Ahmed bin Ali al Kaabi, Director-General of Endowments, Funds, Mosque Construction and Quran Schools, emphasised at a press conference that empowering the endowment sector is a shared responsibility involving civil society and endowment institutions. He noted that such initiatives stem from society itself, which carries the responsibility for leadership, development and societal advancement.
Dr Al Kaabi stressed that reviving specialised scientific conferences in the field of endowments represents an important step toward restoring the authentic role of this sector. These conferences serve as platforms for exchanging expertise, presenting specialised studies and launching initiatives aimed at developing and activating the endowment sector in line with modern requirements.
He commended the Bausher Endowment Foundation for setting a model in institutional endowment work. Despite its relatively short existence, the foundation has successfully aligned its objectives with national priorities and the Ministry’s goals in developing the endowment system. The conference, he said, reflects Oman’s commitment to endowments with significant developmental and knowledge-based implications.
Malik bin Hilal al Yahmadi, Chairman of the Board of the Bausher Endowment Foundation, highlighted that the conference builds on the success of its first edition, which saw wide participation from experts, specialists and stakeholders in the field, strengthening Oman’s presence in the regional endowment arena. He noted that the second edition, titled ‘The Role of Endowments in Promoting Economic Diversification,’ will attract participants from GCC countries and the broader region, expanding collaboration and sharing of investment expertise.
The conference has been expanded regionally due to the scarcity of similar events combining professionalism and scientific depth, distinct from commercially driven conferences. — ONA
