Oman’s national taekwondo player Nebras bin Mohammed al Touqi is taking part in the World Taekwondo Championships (Senior Category), hosted in Wuxi, China, from October 24 to 30. The tournament features participants from over 90 countries with more than 1,000 male and female athletes, including some of the sport’s top stars from around the globe.
The event is held in an atmosphere of great excitement, reflecting its status as one of the most prestigious competitions in international taekwondo.
Al Touqi arrived in China accompanied by national coach Salem al Abri, who oversaw an intensive training programme over the past months. The programme included a series of technical and tactical sessions focusing on improving reaction speed, kick precision and both defensive and offensive performance factors that significantly enhanced the player’s physical and technical readiness for this major international event.
It is worth noting that Al Touqi has recently taken part in several international tournaments and training camps as part of the Oman Taekwondo Committee's preparation plan, aimed at providing players with valuable exposure to different levels of competition and expanding their international experience. Through this participation, Al Touqi seeks to achieve a new national milestone to add to his record of impressive accomplishments and to represent the Sultanate of Oman in the best possible way on the global stage.
The World Taekwondo Championships is considered one of the strongest and most prestigious international tournaments, second only to the Olympic Games. It carries a G14 global ranking within the World Taekwondo Federation’s classification system, granting winners valuable ranking points that strengthen their global standings and enhance their chances of qualifying for future Olympic events.
