Bodhi wins big in martial arts tourney

MUSCAT: A team of young martial arts talents from Bodhi Life Skills Academy, Oman, made the nation proud by delivering an impressive performance at the prestigious Qatar Open World Silambam Tournament, held recently.
Under the expert guidance of Renshi G Kumar, the team showcased remarkable discipline, skill and dedication — securing 3rd Place in the Group Performance category among strong international competition.
The tournament drew participants from across the globe, highlighting the growing global presence of Silambam, the ancient Indian martial art. The Omani team stood out not only in group performance but also through multiple individual accolades, reflecting their hard work and the rising popularity of Silambam in the Middle East.
Kumar, known for his dedication and passion, credited the success to the students' relentless practice, discipline and the support of their families. 'This is more than just a victory – it is a testament to the cultural strength and unity Silambam brings to our youth,' he remarked.
The team’s performance has been met with appreciation from the wider martial arts community, as well as supporters in Oman, who see this as a stepping stone towards more international success.
In another event, a team of talented martial artists delivered an exceptional performance at the International Karate Championship 2025 held in Dubai. Competing in the Masters Category, Kumar showcased his elite skills and emerged as a Double Gold Trophy Champion, winning Gold Trophy in Kata (Forms) and Gold Trophy in Kumite (Sparring). His leadership and excellence continue to inspire the next generation of karatekas.
