Gaza war finally ends amid many questions
I personally do not back all of Trump’s policies, but I would quietly think that if everything proceeds as anticipated, the US President will merit recognition for concluding the devastating conflict in Gaza

After two years of ongoing conflict, Gaza began to experience peace for the first time. The shooting and rocket attacks have stopped. It’s a significant comfort for a generally traumatised Palestinian community confined within the small stretch of territory.
'This is a tremendous day for the world, it's a tremendous day for the Middle East,' US President Donald Trump said. More than two dozen world leaders signed a declaration intended to establish a ceasefire in Gaza on Tuesday.
The declaration states that the signatories committed to 'achieving a holistic vision of peace, security, and mutual prosperity in the region,' and also acknowledged 'the advancements made in creating comprehensive and lasting peace agreements in the Gaza Strip.'
The US collaborated with Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye to bring in what is referred to as an initial agreement between Israel and Hamas for a ceasefire and the liberation of captives and the release of prisoners and detainees from Israel.
Aid is expected to increase in the Gaza Strip, ultimately providing Palestinians with greater access to food, clean water, medicine, and housing. The Israeli military announced that it has started to pull back from certain areas of the Strip.
I personally do not back all of Trump’s policies, but I would quietly think that if everything proceeds as anticipated, the US President will merit recognition for concluding the devastating conflict in Gaza, even though numerous nations and people have a legitimate claim to take part in the agreement.
As BBC reported, “if this agreement holds, it could be Trump's signature achievement of his second term - one that eluded Biden and his diplomatic team. His unique style and crucial relationships with Israel and the Arab world appear to have contributed to this breakthrough”.
ABC News Chief Global Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz, in his 'Good Morning America' show, opined, 'There is no question that if this goes as planned, if we see those remaining captives freed and Israel begin its withdrawal, it is a remarkable achievement and President Trump most certainly deserves credit for his role.”
UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said the deal was a moment of 'profound relief that will be felt around the world'. He called on all sides 'to meet the commitments they have made, to end the war, and to build the foundations for a just and lasting end to the conflict'.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres described the agreement as a 'momentous opportunity', adding that the UN will support the 'full implementation' of the deal, increase its delivery of humanitarian aid and advance its reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
Although the nightmare of the horrific war in Gaza may have finally ended is worth celebrating, yet numerous concerns regarding the feasibility of the proposal, which would put governance and reconstruction, exist.
As many analysts have noted, ensuring the continuation of the ceasefire and putting into place the transitional technocratic governing system that the plan envisages will be challenging, if a significant political resolution isn't achieved between Israel and Palestine.
Should Palestinian self-determination continue to be obstructed, people will have even more reasons to experience hopelessness. Stopping the bombs and hunger is a crucial action, but it's merely the first step, and if the world, particularly the US, ignores it, the circumstances could rapidly go back to what they were.
It can certainly be said that for the strategy to succeed, the White House needs to dedicate additional effort and political capital to advancing the next phases of the strategy. What is expected is, if not greater, the tangible reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
Although a Palestinian state still remains elusive, yet its chances have improved compared to two weeks ago, fostering a fragile glimmer of hope for regional peace!
