Bausher emerge champions for OAA swimming cup

MUSCAT: Bausher Club claimed top honours at the Oman Aquatics Association (OAA) Annual Swimming Cup after delivering a dominant performance and clinching 42 medals including 16 gold, 16 silver and ten bronze. The one day event took place at the Olympic swimming pool at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.
Saham Club finished second overall with a total of 20 medals including: five gold, seven silver and eight bronze while Masirah Club came third with 18 medals including three gold, seven silver and eight bronze. The competition featured participation of 133 swimmers representing eight clubs including: Bidiyah, Al Nasr, Saham, Al Musannah, Al Suwaiq, Al Talia, Masirah, and Bausher, and all the teams competed across nine events showcasing impressive technical skill and commitment.

Dr Awadh al Ojaili, Chairman of OAA, expressed his satisfaction with the overall organisation and level of competition, noting that this year’s edition carried special significance. “Although this championship was initially scheduled for 2024, its conclusion this year gave it a unique energy filled with enthusiasm, challenge and determination to achieve positive results,” he said.
The chief of OAA commended the discipline and dedication shown by the swimmers, many of whom are members of Oman’s national teams. “We witnessed strong competition among the clubs, and the swimmers’ commitment inside the pool reflects the hard work being done at the club level. The results highlight the progress Oman is making in aquatic sports.”
“These championships serve as an important platform for talent discovery and development. The OAA remains committed to expanding participation and organising more specialised events that contribute to the growth of aquatic sports in the Sultanate of Oman,” he concluded.
