Heavy rains in some governorates today: Met

Heavy thunderstorms are expected in the governorates of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah, and Al Buraimi Governorate as the Sultanate of Oman will be affected by a low-pressure system.

Heavy rains in amounts ranging between 20-60 mm can lead to the flow of wadis and water streams, accompanied by sometimes active descending winds that may lead to the flying of unstable objects.

It is also expected that North Al Sharqiyah Governorate and the southern parts of Musandam Governorate will be affected by rainfall amounts ranging between 10-30  mm, and South al Sharqiyah will be affected by rainfall amounts between 5-10 mm, leading to the flow of wadis and streams, accompanied by active downward winds that may sometimes lead to the flying of unstable objects.

The Civil Aviation Authority calls on everyone to take caution and care during thunderstorms, not to cross wadis, and to avoid low-lying areas.

Reduced horizontal visibility during thunderstorms.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Thursday announced that the Sultanate of Oman will be affected by a trough of low pressure beginning Saturday, October 11, 2025, with unstable weather conditions expected to last for several days.

According to the latest meteorological analyses, the system is forecast to bring rainfall of varying intensity, sometimes accompanied by thundershowers, hail, and strong downdraft winds.

The impacts are expected to extend across several governorates, including Musandam, North Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, Al Buraimi, and Al Dakhiliyah, as well as the mountainous areas of South Al Batinah, North Al Sharqiyah, and South Al Sharqiyah.

Forecasters warn that convective cloud formation will likely develop during the afternoon and evening hours, increasing the risk of runoff and flooding of wadis.
