Hamza to represent Oman at World 8-Ball Billiards

The Oman national billiards team player Hamza al Awaidi departed for the Indonesian island of Bali on Tuesday, representing the Oman Billiards and Snooker Committee in the World Men’s 8-Ball Championship 2025 one of the most prestigious global tournaments on the Predator Pro Billiard Series calendar.
The event is organised under the supervision of the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA), in cooperation with the Indonesian Billiards Federation (POBSI) and supported by the official sponsor Yalin.
The championship will take place from October 9 to 13 at the Nusantara Hall of the Bali International Convention Centre, featuring elite players from over 40 countries competing for a total prize pool of $250,000.
Al Awaidi earned his place at this world championship following an outstanding season in which he delivered strong performances across both local and regional tournaments, securing his qualification through the official ranking pathway.
He is regarded as one of the most promising players of the new generation in Oman billiards, having consistently demonstrated high technical skill and the ability to represent the Sultanate of Oman with distinction, leaving a clear mark in both domestic and international competitions.
The Bali 2025 championship stands out as a major stop in the Predator Pro Billiard Series, bringing together renowned players from Asia, Europe and beyond. It is staged at a world-class professional level in line with WPA standards, granting it a prominent status on the global billiards calendar.
Competitors will play under the 8-Ball system one of the most technically demanding and strategic forms of billiards where the player must pocket his designated group of balls first and then legally sink the eight ball to win. The format requires exceptional focus, careful planning and precise cue-ball control.
Speaking before his departure, Hamza al Awaidi expressed pride and determination in representing Oman. 'I feel honoured to represent my country in a world-class championship of this scale. In a statement, the Oman Billiards and Snooker Committee emphasised that Al Awaidi’s participation represents an important step within the national strategy to develop billiards and snooker in the Sultanate of Oman.
The goal, is to provide players with international exposure, enhance their skills through competition with world champions, and strengthen Oman’s presence on the global stage. The committee added that the player had shown great dedication in his preparations, training intensively to enter the championship with confidence and ambition.
