MUSCAT: For the second year in a row, the Sultanate of Oman has been elected as Near East Regional Coordinator at the international food standards body Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC).
Oman was elected to the position during the 12th meeting of the Joint Coordinating Committee of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
The unanimous vote reflects global appreciation for Oman’s central role in enhancing food safety and quality systems. It affirms Oman's dedicated efforts to support technical cooperation and unify regional positions within the Codex Alimentarius Commission.
It also highlights Oman’s active role in developing international standards related to food safety, enhancing consumer health and facilitating food trade at the regional and international levels. - ONA
