In a strategic move that strengthens the status of Omani football, the Oman Football Association (OFA) has announced the signing of an exclusive partnership agreement with Jindal Steel to sponsor the Sultanate of Oman’s premier league, formerly known as the 'Elite League',' which will now carry the new name starting this season: 'Jindal League'.
The agreement also includes sponsoring the training academies of the 'Jindal League' clubs, as well as the establishment of a new youth league under the name 'Jindal Juniors League', for a period of two years.
OFA Chairman Sayyid Sulaiman bin Hamoud al Busaidy expressed his pride in this partnership, saying 'Our collaboration with one of the leading industrial companies in the Sultanate of Oman comes as part of a comprehensive strategic vision that connects support for local competitions with the nurturing of emerging talent. This lays a solid foundation for the development of Omani football and helps build generations capable of representing the national teams at the highest technical levels.
For his part, Harssha Shetty, CEO of Jindal Steel, expressed his delight with this partnership, saying: “We are excited to be the exclusive sponsor of the most important football competition in the Sultanate of Oman. This partnership marks a new beginning for the country’s favourite sport and represents a significant step forward for Omani football on the global stage.'
The Jindal League and Jindal Juniors League will provide ample opportunities to fuel Oman’s passion for football. Fans will be able to connect with the game through dedicated fan zones, contests, ‘Meet Your Favourite Star’ experiences, merchandise, and many more activities.
'This truly embodies the vision of ‘working from the grassroots level’ for Omani football. To this end, we have already begun establishing Football Talent Development Centres across Oman, with 10 centres opened and operational so far, where emerging Omani football stars are being nurtured. The Jindal Juniors League will serve as a launchpad for this talent to grow, develop, and sharpen their skills,” Shetty added.
