The 17th Women’s Bowling Championship for Government and Private Institutions 2025, organised by the Women’s Sports Department at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MoCSY), concludes this evening with the teams’ final. Fourteen teams that qualified from the preliminary rounds will compete for the title. The closing ceremony will take place at the 'Fun Zone' in Qurum, under the auspices of Halima bint Rashid al Zariyah, Chairperson of the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED), at 7:30 pm.
The doubles category witnessed fierce competition, with teams delivering close performances until the final frames. The Royal Air Force of Oman’s duo, Sheikha al Shibli and Siham al Abri, secured first place with 889 points the highest score in the category.
In second place came Occidental (A)’s pair, Alia al Marjabi and Maryam al Ghafri, with 850 points. Third place went to the Royal Court Affairs duo, Janan al Numani and Zainab al Balushi, who scored 808 points.
Bank Sohar International’s pair, Fatma al Balushi and Samar al Maashari, finished fourth with 804 points, just four points shy of third place. Oman Oil Development Company’s duo, Aisha al Siybani and Sharifa al Alawi, came fifth with 734 points.
The Royal Air Force of Oman continued their strong showing, as the pair Sabrah al Sulti and Isamah al Farisi claimed sixth with 728 points. The Oman Electricity Transmission Company’s Bima al Alawi and Aziza al Buraiki ranked seventh with 716 points, followed by Worley Engineering’s pair, Jossel Ispaldon and Sabrin al Badi, in eighth with 690 points.
Ninth place went to Asyad Group’s team, represented by Fai al Jardani and Asilah al Harrasi, with 673 points. Completing the top 10 were Shamsa al Shukri and Tasneem al Dawadi of MB Holding, with 670 points.
These results reflect a remarkable closeness in performance, with point differences often being just a handful, underscoring the intensity and balance of the competition.
SINGLES COMPETITION
The singles category proved even more thrilling, with the top places decided by very slim margins. Isamah al Farisi from the Royal Air Force of Oman clinched first place with 414 points, followed closely by her teammate, Siham al Abri, in second with 409 points.
Occidental (A)’s Alia al Marjabi took third with 398 points, edging out the Royal Air Force’s Sheikha al Shibli, who registered the same score but settled for fourth. Fifth place went to Occidental (A)’s Maryam al Ghafri with 397 points.
Bank Sohar International’s Fatma al Balushi placed sixth with 380 points, while the Royal Air Force’s Sabrah al Sulti followed in seventh with 379 points. Oman Oil Development’s Aisha al Siybani secured eighth with 376 points, just ahead of Bank Sohar International’s Samar al Maashari, who scored 372 for ninth. Completing the top 10 was Occidental (A)’s Hiba al Dughaishi with 364 points.
With the much-anticipated team finals scheduled for Wednesday evening, excitement is at its peak. The qualified teams are all striving to secure a place on the podium and wrap up a championship that has been marked by thrilling contests and narrow margins a testament to the steady growth of women’s bowling in the Sultanate of Oman.
