MUSCAT, SEPT 22
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has announced that the Urban October Conference and Exhibition for Housing and Construction will be held from October 6 to 9 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre under the theme 'Sustainable Cities for People', marking the sixth edition of Urban October.
The event highlights Oman’s role as a regional hub for sustainable urban development, showcasing pioneering projects, innovative solutions, and specialised discussions aligned with Oman Vision 2040’s goal of promoting inclusive and smart cities.
Attendees will explore residential projects, investment opportunities and financing options, with participation from over 30 developers, six banks and leading initiatives, including Sultan Haitham City and Surooh developments.
The conference will feature more than 70 specialised papers across five key themes, alongside forums such as the Sustainable Urban Forum, Circular Cities Summit and the Urban Planning Hackathon 'Makers of Tomorrow.'
Interactive initiatives, including the 'Urban Puzzle' and Urban Planning Debates, aim to engage youth and foster awareness of smart city solutions. The accompanying exhibition will feature over 226 booths highlighting urban projects, government programmes, smart home technologies, sustainable building materials and interior design innovations.
Prizes, including luxury cars, apartments and cash rewards, will add excitement for visitors, while parallel events across various governorates will promote sustainability education and community participation.
This year’s Urban October underscores Oman’s leadership in building sustainable cities that prioritise people and innovation.
