The Ministry of Education has set several conditions for registering students.

MUSCAT, SEPT 22
The Ministry of Education (MoE) announced that the registration for grade 1 in public schools for the 2026-2027 academic year will open on October 1 and end on November 27 this year. Registration for grade 1 in private schools will start on October 15 and continue until July 9, 2026.
The Ministry of Education has set several conditions for registering students in public schools, most importantly, registration will be limited to children born between September 1, 2019, and January 1, 2021. The child and their guardian must have a civil ID number, and a valid Omani residency card for a non-Omani child and their guardian. Registration applications must be submitted by the guardian via the Mandhara platform, using the Request to Register a Student in a Public School window, on a website designated by the MoE.
Following registration on the website, the guardian and their would-be students must approach the school carrying the requisite documents (the child’s medical record to ensure they have received the required vaccinations, a medical report from an accredited health institution in case the child has a chronic illness or any disability requiring special education).
Besides, the child must undergo medical examinations by government health institutions before final admission to the school.
The ministry clarified that if a student is registered in kindergarten for the current academic year, their guardian will register them for the first grade for the next academic year. They will not delegate the registration process to a private school, provided they adhere to the specified conditions and timeframe.
The MoE stipulated that registration in private schools is exclusive to children born between July 1, 2019, and July 1, 2021. The Omani child and their guardian must have a civil ID number, and the non-Omani child and their guardian must have a valid residency permit in Oman.
Other conditions are the same as those required for enrolment in government schools, including medical records and health reports, online registration, and adherence to specified deadlines.
