MOH launches policy to disclose medical incidents

The Ministry of Health's Quality Assurance Center has launched a policy and procedures for disclosing medical incidents.
This step aims to enhance transparency and effective communication between medical personnel and community members within healthcare institutions, contributing to the consolidation of a culture of patient safety.

MOH states that disclosure is a right of the patient and their family to access health, diagnostic, and treatment information, as well as any medical events that may occur.
It also plays a role in enhancing community confidence in the healthcare system. This launch is in line with the second strategy of the five-year plan for patient safety, implementing the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

Disclosure is a fundamental pillar of patient engagement and empowerment, and is one of the main objectives of the Global Patient Safety Plan (2021-2030), which calls for making patients active partners in the healthcare system.
