Seeb defeat Samayil 3–1 to strengthen Jetour Cup campaign

Al Seeb Club sealed their rescheduled match from the first round of the Oman Jetour Cup with a deserved 3–1 victory over their guests Samayil , in a Group Two clash on Friday evening. The result confirmed Seeb’s strong start to the tournament, while Samayil suffered their first defeat, which could complicate their campaign.
The match opened with attacking play from both sides, as they shared control in the first 15 minutes. Samayil nearly struck first in the 6th minute when Osama al Zaabi received a pass inside the box and fired a powerful shot that went just over the bar. Seeb responded quickly through Mohammed Abdulhakim, who went one-on-one with the goalkeeper, only for defender Ahmed Abdulmohsin to intervene at the last moment and clear the danger.

Seeb’s pressure paid off in the 19th minute when Omar al Malki delivered a clever through ball that split Samayil’s defence, allowing Abdulmajid al Balushi to slot confidently into the net for the opener. Samayil thought they had equalised in the 34th minute through Osama al Zaabi, but his effort was ruled out for offside, keeping the score unchanged.
The home side continued pressing with swift counterattacks that troubled Samayil’s defence. Just a minute before halftime, Seeb orchestrated a flowing move involving several players, ending with Mohammed al Hatmi’s precise pass into the area, where Marwan Tayeeb was perfectly positioned to finish and make it 2–0. The first half closed with Seeb firmly in control, while Samayil’s attempts lacked real threat.

In the second half, Samayil returned with renewed determination and managed to win a penalty in the 71st minute after one of their players was fouled inside the box. Moayyed al Hashami stepped up and converted confidently to cut the deficit to 2–1. The goal lifted Samayil’s spirits, and they pushed hard for an equaliser with successive attacks, but Seeb’s disciplined defence and alert goalkeeper preserved the lead.
As Samayil pressed forward aggressively, leaving gaps at the back, Seeb capitalised in the second minute of stoppage time. Their new Ivorian striker, Mamadou Soro, a recent transfer window signing, exploited a defensive mix-up between the backline and the keeper to snatch the ball and calmly slot home. It was his first official goal for Seeb, sealing a 3–1 victory and underlining the team’s promising start to the competition.
